Empowering Families.

Through literacy initiatives, scholarships, and grants, Nubian Improvement Association empowers youth and families to overcome barriers, access new opportunities, and build a future filled with promise and achievement. 

argeting the gap in educational and financial resources in low-income
families, this pillar focuses on nurturing potential through direct support and recognition.
Programs under this pillar will recognize and support the potential of youth and
their families.

  • Gifted & Resilient Awards: In-kind awards or Tech device scholarships (laptops,
    tablets, STEM kits) for gifted and talented youth from low income families.
  • Reading is Life Changing Programs: Providing Outreach of Literacy workshops &
    Distributing books, comic books to young people and adults with children within the inner city of Brooklyn near areas such as parks, recreation centers, NYCHA and low income neighborhoods.
  • ExtraSupport Grants: provide scholarships to children of struggling families the
    opportunity to participate in positive recreational and extra-curricular activities such as summer camp, music lessons, and more for under-resourced children.
  • Alex Schloss Awards: A grant for families and people with special needs or learning disabilities to strengthen the support system and create a happy and fulfilling life. Grant assistance to afford expensive evaluations, help with medical bills, in-home care, specialized parenting trainings, or recreational activities for children with special needs or intellectual disabilities
