Nubian Improvement Association (NIA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the neglected needs of the African Diaspora and other underserved communities by fostering education, workforce development, and mentorship opportunities.

Founded in 2022 by Shantel Nubian, NIA was born out of a commitment to break cycles of generational poverty and systemic inequities. Our programs provide marginalized youth with access to educational tools, mentorship, and career development opportunities.

Goal for 2025: Marginalized communities face a lack of access to violence prevention resources, economic opportunities, and STEAM education, limiting safety, career pathways, and mobility.

The U.N.I.T.Y. Initiative is designed to:

  • Reduce youth violence and incarceration through mentorship, creative expression, and career pathways
  • Empower families by providing financial and educational support
  • Bridge the digital divide through STEAM training and technology access
